What is a collagraph?
A collagraph is a simple form of printmaking from plates made from materials which can be cut and glued together. You can use any low relief texture: wallpaper, leaves, fabrics, tapes and threads… Here, I’ve used card, fabric, sequins and an actual starfish! After cutting out a variety of desired shapes, they arranged on the cardboard like you’d do for a collage, and stuck together with a thick layer of glue. The printmaking ink is rolled onto the surface once the glue has dried and pressed onto paper to produce a print.
